Currently the Sri Lankan operation employs over 150 employees and approximately 700 insurance agents and has been operating in Sri Lanka for nearly 5 years
A vacancy exists for the position of Investment Officer to assist the company’s Chief Investment Officer in managing insurance funds. The selected candidate will work closely with the actuarial, strategic finance, and risk management departments within the company at various levels.
Responsibilities
To be responsible for the day to day management of the insurance funds and shareholder funds under the supervision of the Chief Investment Officer.
To conduct the investment management operation adhering to the company’s investment policy statement (IPS) and risk policy.
To liaise with regional/group investment monitoring team on matters relating to local portfolio management and participate in the training/knowledge sharing sessions organized by the regional/group offices.
To attend the Investment Committee and report on all investment matters and to provide management information as required.
To ensure that decisions taken by the Investment Committee are implemented and to be responsible for the formulation and implementation of a detailed strategy consistent with IPS
To prepare all necessary investment reports as per the company, regional and group requirements.
To make presentations at Investments Committee and Senior Management meetings.
To supervise investment transactions and monitor fund performance taking action as appropriate
To promote best practice and ensure compliance with local regulatory rules, stock exchange rules and internal investment regulations.
To provide training for the sales staff on investment fundamentals related to company’s products
To be responsible for maintaining portfolio ledger, investment documentation and undertake other fund accounting related tasks as and when required.
The successful candidate will have;
Strong results in a degree in finance, economics, statistics or similar.
Sound analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and will be able to articulate investment ideas clearly and simply to a range of audiences, both orally and in writing
The ability to work effectively using initiative in a small team environment, and a high level interest in financial markets.
The ability to build and maintain strong and productive relationships with regulators, brokers, fund managers, primary dealers, banks, and other partners.
Minimum 3 years prior experience in investment research /portfolio management preferably with an institutional investor.
Sound knowledge in local and international accounting standards related to investment management.
The ideal candidate would be below the age of 30 years and a CFA candidate with minimum level I completion.
